Ask God for proper direction.
If we had everything ahead of time, we wouldn’t need faith. – Pastor Monica
God doesn’t want us to be robots; He wants to be in relationship with us.
Hebrews 11:1 – Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.
Some people pray for God to give them husbands and wives when they see that “time is running out”, but why wait until a later time to pray when you can pray before the time is over?
We have fear for the things we do not know and that is why we require FAITH.
If you are hoping for something, you have to believe.
We say that we believe in God but even the devil believes in God.
Hebrews 11:6 – But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.
When you approach God remember these 3 things:
- Without faith it is impossible to please Him
- He who comes to God must believe that He is (v.6)
You have to believe that God exists because even the devil and demons believe and tremble at His voice.
When you believe in Him, you have to have a relationship with God. The devil believes but he does not have a relationship with God.
- He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him
There is a difference between those who simply believe and those that diligently seek Him. Those that seek God, obtain results.
Understand the heart of the Giver.
The kind gift you give someone determines the kind of relationship you have with someone. – Pastor Monica
Some people give gifts out of obligation and not out of love.
In the same way with God, if you want to give or do something for Him, you must first try to find out what it is He likes.
Kids send letters to Santa Claus expecting a gift. Santa Claus doesn’t exist and yet some children expect to receive a gift in return by simply asking for what they want by sending a letter to the North Pole.
For us, our God exists and sometimes we approach God in the same manner. We ask expecting God to give us simply because we asked Him for that blessing but sometimes we ask God for things amiss.
Where does our Faith come from?
Romans 10:17 – So then faith comes by hearing and hearing by the word of God.
Do not base your belief system but the word of a human being, by science or the circumstances of your life. If you do that, you don’t have a base (foundation). You have to base your belief system on the Word of God.
Seeking is not the same as praying.
If you don’t purpose to have a Relationship with God, then how can you actually know Him?
Who is God to you?
People are so busy serving God that they don’t have time for God. Whatever you do, do it unto the Lord.
Abraham’s Faith Confirmed
22 Now it came to pass after these things that God tested Abraham, and said to him, “Abraham!”
And he said, “Here I am.”
2 Then He said, “Take now your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you.”
3 So Abraham rose early in the morning and saddled his donkey, and took two of his young men with him, and Isaac his son; and he split the wood for the burnt offering, and arose and went to the place of which God had told him.4 Then on the third day Abraham lifted his eyes and saw the place afar off.5 And Abraham said to his young men, “Stay here with the donkey; the lad[a]and I will go yonder and worship, and we will come back to you.”
6 So Abraham took the wood of the burnt offering and laid it on Isaac his son; and he took the fire in his hand, and a knife, and the two of them went together. 7 But Isaac spoke to Abraham his father and said, “My father!”
And he said, “Here I am, my son.”
Then he said, “Look, the fire and the wood, but where is the lamb for a burnt offering?”
8 And Abraham said, “My son, God will provide for Himself the lamb for a burnt offering.” So the two of them went together.
9 Then they came to the place of which God had told him. And Abraham built an altar there and placed the wood in order; and he bound Isaac his son and laid him on the altar, upon the wood. 10 And Abraham stretched out his hand and took the knife to slay his son.
11 But the Angel of the Lord called to him from heaven and said, “Abraham, Abraham!”
So he said, “Here I am.”
12 And He said, “Do not lay your hand on the lad, or do anything to him; for now I know that you fear God, since you have not withheld your son, your only son, from Me.”
Where do we place God? Abraham is the father of Faith. He believed God to the very end. The question is do we believe God to the very end?
Abraham received his promise which was Isaac and yet God tested Abraham’s faith by sending him to sacrifice his only promised son to whom he had waited to receive after such a long period had past.
What did Abraham choose to do? Abraham did what God told him to because He said so.
God may ask you to do difficult things, and you might be the first one to question His voice wonder “Did I hear correctly? Did God really say…?” and binding the devil, but you have to listen to what God has said and act by FAITH.
People want direction to prosper but will you do what God asks you to do when He gives you instructions?
As people, we are always on the look out for the details before obeying an instruction, but that is not faith. God doesn’t care about your logic, He cares about your faith.
Genesis 22:5 – And Abraham said to his young men, You stay here with the ass. And I and the boy will go on to this way and worship, and come again to you.
When you are on your journey of faith just like Abraham was, there comes a point where you have to drop some people and they cannot go with you.
Abraham had to do that and left his servants when he was heading to the mountain of Moriah to do what God had told him to do, which was to sacrifice his son Isaac. You do not have the time to bring people who will stop you from obeying what you have heard God say to you.
When you are asking “God where are you?” and He is silent, that is because you haven’t arrived at the place where He needs to speak to you again.
Ask yourself, will you continue on with the journey of Faith when God is silent?
Not everything that is going on in your life must be broadcasted to the world for others to listen. Learn to keep somethings to yourself out of wisdom.
Have a relationship with God. When you have a relationship with God, it is then that you will know what to give to Him.
What Gift do you give God who has everything? Your FAITH is what you can give Him because that is the gift that keeps on giving.
What does your faith do for you?
Do not pray out of necessity, do it because you love Him and because you want to do it. Don’t do things out of routine, do things with a purpose, do it because you want to and do things out of faith.
We ask God amiss because we do not understand the heart of the Giver (God). If we knew who the Giver was, we wouldn’t ask for things in prayer amiss.
The more you pray, is the more you realize how much of God you need. – Pastor Monica
